Loch Ness

The latest AG Gallery Show was a group show entitled "Loch Ness".  People from all over the building submitted artwork and prose, and it was up for most of October.  So much fun! I can't wait to do another one~
Here are the two pieces I did:

"Eyes"
(Still available 5"x10" framed for $50)

"Pretending"

MATS

I just realized I forgot to update about Lilla's MATS class.
Here are a couple of my favorites from the 5 week course I took earlier this summer.
"Home Decor" week.
(We were challenged to step outside our usual style and color palette.)

"The Snail and the Rose Tree"
(We needed to do the cover or 2 page spread from this well known fairy tale)

Bolt Fabric- MATS week 1

First week of Lilla's class complete!
I learned a ton about the Bolt Fabric Market, how what color ways and coordinates are, and that a lot of times, the company you are submitting your art to can do the repeat, so you don't always need to worry about it.

Our assignment this week involved "mushrooms and casserole dishes" and here's what I submitted!

This isn't work that I've done, but I wanted to announce the exciting project that my boyfriend, Aaron Roberts got to work on about a year ago.

He designed the new Ohio License Plate...AND THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE! :D

I bought mine the first weekend I could, and could not wait to swap out the silly sunshine one.
Great job Aaron! Love you!

Happy Holidays!

Long time no see!
I wanted to share with you all an amazing opportunity I had recently, thanks to my friend Salli Swindell.  Every year The Grey Colt in Hudson, OH hosts an event to raise money for charities that are near and dear to them.  This year about 50 artists participated by creating "Stockings" to be raffled off the week of December 7th. I decided to take a different approach than most, and created these "His and Hers" pillows with the theme "stockings" in mind.

All the proceeds this year went to an organization started by a girl about my age called "One Bead".  Please visit her website and donate if you are able.  She has an inspiring story and all of her donations go toward helping a city in Kenya.  Simply incredible, and I am glad I could be a part of it for this special night.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Huetopia

It's been a while!  My first 2.5 months have been crazy and eventful at AG.  I started out as a card planner for kids & humor cards, and 2 months later, accepted a full time job on the graphics team, doing a lot of kids and humor lettering and hand lettering.  It was a bittersweet move, because both teams are full of amazing people to work with and learn from, but it was a big opportunity to be full time.

HUETOPIA is the new show in the AG gallery this month.  As AG kicks off the new palatte, about fifteen of us created pieces to show off some of the new colors.
I got "reds" specifically "Sundried Tomato"

Vacation

Family Vacation this year was spur-of-the-moment.  Hopefully when I get back, I'll be able to start a new job with one of two companies I interviewed with last week.  CROSSING MY FINGERS. In the meantime I have been exploring my interest in pattern and surface design, and bought Print&Pattern 1 and 2.  I was inspired to create these two vacation related little pattern heavy illos.

PS: Sand crabs are TERRIFYING.

Directions

Directions. Is. Over.
After a whirlwind of a week (/month/semester!) Directions was finally last night.  I met a lot of great people and made a lot of great connections.  One more week of classes, and then as of May 12th I will officially be a graduate!
So what are you going to do after graduation?
^^Everyone's FAVORITE question^^
Well, I haven't quite figured it out yet, though I have been talking with a lot of people.  I know for sure that there are 2 blogs that I want to start this summer, and I also want to take part in more weekly websites such as illustrationfriday.
But I'll let you know as things unfold :P thanks for asking!

That's it for now...thanks for stopping in!

CCAD Art Sale

This past weekend was the CCAD Art Sale, where students, faculty, and alumni buy tables, and people from all over come to see what these talented artists have brought. This was my first time having a table, and I learned a lot.
Thank you to everyone who bought things from me!
Here are some pictures I took with my phone before the sale started :D
If there is anything that you see in these photos that you like, and would potentially want to buy or commission something like it, feel free to contact me!
